Class Project to be Aired on CCTV

altAmerican Studies Program (ASP) students in Professor Lora Yasen's Reading/Writing and Marianne Stipe's Listening/Speaking classes got a taste of working in a television studio this past spring.  The end product will be aired on local television station, CCTV, between November 23 and December 1.  For a complete schedule, click here.  Enjoy their demonstrations on calligraphy, marbles, origami, taiko, kendama, kamisumo, taketombo, and how to wear a yukata.

Students spent time in the classroom practicing their demonstrations for the various program segments and recording their speeches and writing about the experiences.  In the studio, they learned how to use the audio equipment and helped the CCTV staff and community volunteers at the filming sessions.

The students arrived in February and this experience gave them practice in reading, writing, listening and speaking in English with their classmates, professors, tutors, elementary school children and community members.
